The safespace for the wilderness within
There is something about the autumn equinox that feels less like a turning away from the light and more like an invitation to discover where light actually lives.
Entering darkness has never meant letting the darkness devour me or letting it creep into me.
It has meant becoming light.
This is why I have always understood something about the long northern winter. When the outer world gives less and less light, another kind of seeing becomes possible. The distractions fall away. The landscape grows quiet. The horizon darkens. And what has been glowing almost imperceptibly within begins to become visible.
Longer periods of silence. More space to hear, feel, listen and simply perceive.
A candle means very little at noon.
In the darkening evening and night, it can illuminate a whole room.
I feel myself standing at that threshold again.
There has been an unusual intensity around this equinox, as though something is breaking open while something else is quietly gathering form. I can feel the familiar invitation to loosen my grip. To release another layer of control. To take another leap of faith and ask the question that seems to return at every true threshold:
Can I trust life to carry me when I stop trying to determine exactly where it must take me?
And beneath that, another question.
Can I trust the form that has been emerging through me?
Can I allow the force behind it to move?
I keep returning to the image of the hearth and the ancient-looking lady tending that fire. And all of this seems to be tying into Power and reclaiming it, no longer fearing the Fullness.
The hearth is not a fire carried from door to door asking to be welcomed. It has a place. It has a center. Someone tends it.
The hearthkeeper does not need to chase those who belong around the fire. Her work is to keep the flame alive.
And lately I have begun to notice something unexpected. People are appearing. Reaching out. Drawing closer in ways I could not have arranged. At the same time, I can feel something becoming brighter inside me.
This seems to be just another form of surrender: letting my open heart become a signal rather than a search.
Trusting what is true to gather around what is true. Can I stand here, in my Self, in the fullness of me?
Allowing the fire to call its own people home. Allowing my own inner hearth/heart/home frequency to pulsate deeper, wider, stronger.
So I don’t experience this descent into the darker half of the year as a descent away from light. I experience it as an invitation to become intimate with the source of it. What is that very thing that feeds my life without end? Could it be my devotion to Life itself? What is that current asking now? And can I let it take me with it?
The equinox holds the scales for one brief moment. Light and darkness meet as equals.
And then the darkness begins to grow.
Not as an enemy, more as a familiar embrace.
And also as a sanctuary. A place for a sigh, for rest and play, finally.
A dark room in which the smallest flame becomes unmistakable.
This is the season that asks whether the light I have been seeking outside myself has finally become strong enough to illuminate the way from within.
I don’t know what is coming. Unexpected miracles are my best guess.
But as I have been following the Sacred Flame within, there is one small fire calling to be lit for the season to come.
And as I begin to withdraw some of my energy from facebook, I have been feeling a desire to gather what I share into a quieter, more intentional space. Not another stream to constantly feed, but a hearth to tend.
I am calling it WildHuman Sanctuary.
A small Telegram channel where I will be sharing writings, reflections, transmissions, images, fragments from the road, and whatever else emerges from this ongoing inquiry into what it means to become more fully human.
For now, I am simply lighting the flame.
And for those who feel called not only to listen, but to gather, speak and share, there is a circle forming around it:
Around the Sacred Flame.
A place for conversation, contemplation and witnessing around whatever the fire brings forth.
The hearth is lit.
Those who recognize its warmth are welcome to come closer.
Please do enter if you feel called 🔥
