The lesson on receiving

A friend commented on one of my posts that people should pay me for what I do.

It made me laugh, because I have never really known how to receive money for something that comes through me this naturally.

And perhaps this is part of my practice too.

Opening to receiving.

I know very clearly that I cannot do this work for money. Something in me has become incapable of organizing my life around that equation anymore.

I write because I have to write. Because something moves through me and wants to be given form. Because this is how I listen, how I make sense of being alive, and increasingly, how I feel I am asked to serve.

Whether anyone pays me for it or not does not change that.

But I am beginning to see that surrendering to divine guidance cannot only mean surrendering what I do and where I go. It also means surrendering my ideas about how I am allowed to be supported.

There has to be movement in both directions.

Giving and receiving.

And while I have become quite comfortable with giving, receiving has been a different initiation.

At the moment I live very simply. I have very little money, and strangely, that does not frighten me in the way it once might have. But I also don’t believe scarcity is my deepest nature.

Life is abundant.

And if I am learning to trust Life, perhaps I also need to allow Life to decide through which hands that abundance returns to me.

So I made a Ko-fi page.

Not to put my writing behind a paywall. Not because I expect anything in return. And certainly not because money is why I am doing this.

Simply to open a channel where there wasn’t one before.

If something I have written has touched you, accompanied you through something, opened a door, made you laugh, cry, remember, or see yourself differently, and you genuinely feel moved to support my writing and this strange little pilgrimage of mine, now you can.

There is absolutely no obligation.

This is simply me practicing keeping my hands open in both directions.

To give freely.

And to receive freely.

Perhaps abundance needs an open door too.

In deep gratitude I’m ready to receive❤️‍🔥
